Howard Dean Brings Promise to State Parties

Let's talk about what Howard Dean brings to the Democratic Party globally and at every level.

From the moment Dean decided to seek the presidency he was the candid spokesperson who dared to say what others dared NOT to say. Frankly, I believe his candor was frightening to the cautious Democrats who sometimes are inclined to semi-agree with Republican tenets and who seem to be almost apologetic about being liberal. Hey, our silence on "liberal" issues is like condoning the right wing's bashing and applying the term "liberal" as if it were a crass four letter word! Not Howard Dean! He is not silent and his articulate passion for the ideals and issues we embrace as Democrats is like a breath of fresh air. He's clearly the Doctor with the right prescription for our party!

The leadership of Howard Dean as newly elected Democratic National Committee Chair brings energy and affirmation to all of us who work to establish a two-party system in our states. I am more than enthused! I am one of many who says it's time to move on, time to work hard and to proceed with a positive attitude that sparks the vitality that results in success!

And, what does Howard Dean mean to South Dakota? He has promised to provides funds to train workers-----we choose the worker, his team trains, and provides real help to the State Party. Of course all of this translates to direct help to County Parties! He has always talked about infusing approximately $200, 000.00 into our state for people and training. Now folks, this is amazing ---a first in my association with the State Party. His record proves he has the "know how" and ability to build awesome teams of people.

You ask, will he come to South Dakota? Yes, he will. I can't tell you when but I can tell you I've invited him to McGovern day and that he promised even before he was elected Chair to visit us. He has a genuine desire to visit the reservations and to learn all he can about that population. He will come, I am sure. He's has already visited 8 states I believe and that is indeed impressive!

Every day we deliever the message of Democrats. We are indeed the party of inclusion and we are indeed the party who puts families first, placing the needs of ALL citizens as our priorities. I believe SILENCE is one of the reasons we are the minority party! Things are looking up both with Howard Dean as our leader and with each of you as a messenger!
